World Rangers Day

World Rangers Day

July 31 is used every year to honor the memory of conservationists from all over the world who have given their lives in the service of nature conservation over the past year. This is a worldwide event of the International Ranger Federation, of which the European Ranger Federation and our ASP CR are members, among others.

The International Ranger Federation, along with its member organizations, celebrates the World Ranger Day to honor and remember the rangers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Rangers play a crucial role in protecting the world's natural and cultural heritage, often risking their lives. The Thin Green Line Foundation supports the families of rangers who have died while carrying out their mission. The dangers faced by rangers include conflicts with poachers, accidents during fieldwork, and encounters with wildlife. The International Ranger Federation releases an annual Honor Roll with the names of rangers who have died in the past year. In the Czech Republic, park rangers have access to quality healthcare and drinking water, but they still face challenges in dealing with the impact of human activities on nature. The public can learn more about the work of park rangers through events organized by the rangers themselves. Park rangers serve as representatives of nature conservation and provide information and assistance to visitors. When necessary, rangers also have the authority to enforce regulations for the protection of nature. They can be identified by their uniforms and badges, which bear the emblem of the relevant protected area or region.
