The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has found that at least 40% of all internal conflicts in the past 60 years have been linked to the exploitation of natural resources, including high-value resources like timber, diamonds, gold, and oil, as well as vital resources like fertile land and water. It has also been found that conflicts related to natural resources are twice as likely to recur. The United Nations attaches great importance to ensuring that environmental measures are part of conflict prevention strategies, peacekeeping, and peacebuilding, as lasting peace cannot exist if the natural resources that sustain livelihoods and ecosystems are destroyed. On May 27, 2016, the UN Environment Assembly adopted resolution UNEP/EA.2/Res.15, which recognized the role of healthy ecosystems and sustainably managed resources in reducing the risk of armed conflicts and reaffirmed its strong commitment to the full implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals set out in General Assembly resolution 70/1, entitled "Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." The first Buy Nothing Day was organized in Canada in September 1992 as a day to examine the problem of excessive consumption. In 1997, it was moved to the Friday after American Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, which is one of the ten busiest shopping days not only in the United States.

According to estimates, Czech customers spend about five to six thousand crowns during Black Friday, while the average annual donation for charity projects is around 500 crowns. Czechs have the opportunity to reflect on where they send their money, as evidenced by the amount of 95 million crowns raised for charity projects during Giving Tuesday, compared to the up to seven billion spent on Black Friday.

What started as a day full of discounts has turned into a week or even a month dedicated to shopping and consumption. People buy goods that end up discarded in the back of the closet or even in landfills, often with so-called fake discounts. Every year, the media warns against fake discounts that are typical for Black Friday. According to retailers, discounts can reach up to 80%, but in the Czech market, real discounts only reach about 19%. Retailers inflate the price of goods and calculate the discount from this higher amount.

The beginnings of Buy Nothing Day were not easy. In 2000, some advertisements supporting Buy Nothing Day were denied advertising time by almost all major television networks, except for CNN. Česká republika podepsala úmluvu o mezinárodním obchodu s nebezpečnými chemickými látkami a pesticidy s cílem ochrany lidského zdraví a životního prostředí. Od Bhópálu se celosvětové používání pesticidů více než zdvojnásobilo, což má negativní dopad na opylující hmyz a ekosystémy. Ztráta opylovačů ohrožuje globální produkci potravin. The Czech Republic signed this convention in New York on June 22, 1999. The goal of the convention is to promote shared responsibility and collective efforts of the contracting parties in international trade of certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides in order to protect human health and the environment from potential damage and contribute to their environmentally friendly use by facilitating the exchange of information about their properties, securing the national decision-making process on their import and export, and disseminating these decisions among the contracting parties. Since Bhopal, the global use of pesticides has more than doubled to over four million tons per year, despite scientific research clearly showing that the use of chemically synthesized pesticides is one of the main reasons for the dramatic decline in pollinating insects, often referred to as the extinction of bees. Most flowering plants worldwide rely on pollinators, including almost all varieties of fruit or vegetable crops. The loss of pollinators therefore has serious consequences for the ecosystems in which they live and also threatens global food production and our future food security. In some countries, the dramatic decline in natural pollinators has created a situation where pollination now has to be done manually, examples include the cultivation of passion fruit in Brazil and almond plantations in China. Biodiversity is not the only victim of pesticide use. Pesticides have significant negative effects on soil, water, and human health. Every year, about 41 million people suffer from the consequences of accidental pesticide poisoning, including those who work in agriculture and residents of surrounding communities. Recent numbers from the World Health Organization (WHO) also show how pesticides play a major role in hundreds of thousands of suicides due to the availability of these highly toxic substances.

Der Internationale Tag der Berge wurde als Fortsetzung des Internationalen Jahres der Berge, das von 11.12.2001 bis 11.12.2002 stattfand und von der UNO auf Initiative der Ernährungs- und Landwirtschaftsorganisation ausgerufen wurde, ins Leben gerufen. Das Symbol des Internationalen Tags der Berge besteht aus drei gleichseitigen Dreiecken, die von einer imaginären horizontalen Linie ausgehen. Die überwiegend schwarzen Dreiecke repräsentieren Berge, wobei das erste Dreieck von links einen blauen Diamanten an der Spitze hat, der Gletscher und Schnee symbolisiert, die lebensspendendes Wasser liefern. The Association Logica Universalis, an informal meta-association promoting logic closely linked to Jean-Yves Béziau, supported the celebration of World Logic Day 2019 by encouraging logicians from around the world to organize independent events on January 14th, 2019. Approximately sixty such events were organized in 33 countries. The success of this informal first World Logic Day was part of the discussions at the 40th General Conference of UNESCO in November 2019, which led to its formal declaration by UNESCO.

Asociácia Logica Universalis podporila oslavu Svetského dňa logiky 2019, ktorá sa konala 14. januára. Bolo usporiadaných približne 60 nezávislých akcií vo 33 krajinách. Úspech tohto prvého neformálneho Svetského dňa logiky bol súčasťou rokovaní 40. generálnej konferencie UNESCO, ktorá viedla k formálnemu vyhláseniu tohto dňa. V 21. storočí je logika mimoriadne aktuálna pre naše spoločnosti, ekonomiky a udržateľnosť. Napríklad informatika a informačné a komunikačné technológie majú korene v logickom a algoritmickom myslení. V oblasti ekológie tiež potrebujeme logiku viac ako kedykoľvek predtým.

Der Tag ohne Palmöl knüpft an die erfolgreiche Aktion "Tag, an dem wir den Unternehmen sagen, dass wir ihre Produkte mit Palmöl nicht wollen" an, die am 1. Februar 2016 stattfand. Dieser Tag erinnert vor allem daran, was bereits geschehen ist und was noch getan werden muss. Es ist eine Erinnerung an unsere globale Verantwortung. Es liegt an jedem von uns, das Geschehen auf der anderen Seite des Planeten aktiv zu beeinflussen. Wir bitten Sie daher, einen Tag, gerne auch zwei, drei, fünf oder auch jeden Tag ohne Palmöl zu leben, ohne Produkte, die es enthalten. Sie helfen sowohl Ihrer Gesundheit als auch der Natur und werden am Ende feststellen, dass Sie sogar Geld sparen, denn Sie brauchen eigentlich nicht so viele Produkte mit Palmöl.

Palmöl, das aus den Früchten der Ölpalme gewonnen wird und ursprünglich aus Afrika stammt, ist in etwa der Hälfte aller Lebensmittel enthalten: Margarine, Bratfette, Mayonnaise, Saucen, Pommes Frites, Chips, Kekse, Feingebäck, Eiscreme, Schokolade, gehärtete Pflanzenfette, Instant-Suppen und -Milch, Süßigkeiten, Eiscreme, Säuglingsnahrung, Kosmetik, Shampoos, Cremes, Rasierschaum und Seife, Tierfutter, industrielle Schmiermittel und Biokraftstoffe. 

Experten zufolge wirkt sich der übermäßige Konsum von raffiniertem Palmöl negativ auf unsere Gesundheit aus. Palmöl enthält viele ungesunde Fettsäuren und wenig gesunde. Der Verzehr fördert Immunerkrankungen sowie Herz- und Gefäßerkrankungen. Durch die Raffination entstehen krebserregende Substanzen und genetische Schäden. Die Umweltverschmutzung und Treibhausgase: 1 Hektar Regenwald kann im Vergleich zu 1 Hektar Palmölplantage 10-mal mehr Kohlenstoff speichern. Eine große Menge an Treibhausgasen entweicht aus Torfmooren, die in Palmölplantagen umgewandelt wurden. In den Böden der Torfmoore ist eine große Menge Kohlenstoff und Methan gespeichert, die bei Kontakt mit Luft freigesetzt werden. Weitere Treibhausgasemissionen entstehen durch das Abholzen von Wäldern und Torfmooren. Biokraftstoffe, die aus Palmöl von auf trockengelegten Torfmooren gewachsenen Früchten hergestellt werden, belasten die Atmosphäre viel stärker als konventionelle fossile Brennstoffe. Aufgrund der enormen Nachfrage wird immer mehr Palmöl benötigt, und somit auch größere Flächen für Plantagen. Since then, the Ramsar Convention Secretariat has been providing relevant information and materials to government agencies, non-governmental organizations, conservation organizations, and social groups celebrating World Wetlands Day to help them raise awareness about the value and benefits of wetlands and support their conservation and sustainable use. These activities include various seminars, festivals, announcements of newly designated Ramsar sites, newspaper articles, radio interviews, as well as nature walks and wetland restoration.

Wetlands and Sustainable Development Goals

Healthy wetlands are essential for achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 6, which focuses on ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, and its target 6.6, which aims to protect and restore water-related ecosystems; Goal 14, which relates to the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development, including its target 14.2, which strives for the sustainable management and protection of marine and coastal ecosystems; and Goal 15, which concerns life on land, and its target 15.1, which seeks to ensure the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services.

In any case, the future of humanity depends on wetlands. Wetlands not only clean and replenish our water, but also provide food, such as fish and rice, which feed billions of people. They also act as a natural sponge against floods and droughts. Wetlands have great biological diversity and play an important role as carbon sinks. Světový den luštěnin je důležitý pro udržitelný rozvoj, protože luštěniny jsou zdravé a ekologicky přínosné potraviny. Obsahují hodně proteinů, minerálů a vitaminů, jsou bezlepkové a mají nízký obsah tuku. Pěstování luštěnin je šetrné k životnímu prostředí, spotřebuje méně vody než produkce masa a může se provádět i na méně úrodné půdě. Luštěniny také zvyšují biodiverzitu krajiny a jsou dlouho trvanlivé. Jsou součástí tradičních pokrmů z celého světa, včetně české kuchyně.

The World Pulses Day has a special significance for the goals of sustainable development 1 2 3 5 8 12 13 and 15. Pulses are rich in beneficial substances and overall very beneficial for our health. They contain a lot of proteins, but very little fat. Pulses are naturally gluten-free and contain a lot of iron, zinc, minerals, and B-group vitamins. The cultivation of pulses also has several advantages. The production of 1 kg of pulses consumes 1250 liters of water, which is ten times less than the amount of water needed for 1 kg of beef. Pulses can also be grown in less fertile soil and can withstand semi-arid areas. They increase biodiversity and provide shelter for other species of animals and insects. Šimpanz bonobo, známý také jako šimpanz trpasličí, je druh šimpanze, který se vyskytuje ve střední Africe. Živí se převážně rostlinnou stravou doplňovanou drobnými bezobratlými a občas i obratlovci. Bonobo žije ve skupinách se silnými sociálními vazbami a pohlavní styk hraje v jejich životě velkou roli. Je ohroženým druhem podle IUCN. Bonobové se nacházejí v malé části lesa v Demokratické republice Kongo a jsou kriticky ohroženi kvůli ničení lesů a ztrátě stanovišť v důsledku těžby coltanu. Recyklace elektroniky, jako jsou mobilní telefony a notebooky, je jednoduchý způsob, jak pomoci bonobům, protože udržuje coltan v oběhu a snižuje poptávku po jeho těžbě z volné přírody.

The bonobo chimpanzee, also known as the pygmy chimpanzee, is one of two species in the genus Pan, the other being the common chimpanzee. It is found in Central Africa and primarily feeds on plants, supplemented with small invertebrates and occasionally vertebrates. Bonobos live in social groups with strong social bonds, and sexual behavior plays a significant role in their relationships. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists them as an endangered species. Bonobos are the closest living relatives of humans, sharing 98.7% of their DNA with us. They are found in a small part of the forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo and are critically endangered, with less than 30,000 individuals in the wild. Deforestation and habitat loss due to coltan mining pose a threat to bonobo populations. Coltan is a mineral found in electronics, such as batteries. One simple way to help bonobos is to recycle your electronics, especially mobile phones and laptops. Recycling these devices keeps coltan in circulation and reduces the demand for its extraction from the wild.

Šimpanz bonobo, známy aj ako šimpanz trpasličí, je jeden zo dvoch druhov rodu šimpanz, ktorý sa vyskytuje vo strednej Afrike. Živí sa prevažne rastlinnou stravou a žije vo veľkých skupinách so silnými sociálnymi väzbami. Je ohrozeným druhom a jeho populácia je ohrozená ničením lesov a stratou stanovíšť. Jednoduchým spôsobom, ako pomôcť bonobom, je recyklovať elektroniku, ktorá obsahuje minerál coltan, ktorý sa nachádza v bateriách.
