Palmový olej je obsažen v mnoha potravinách, kosmetice a dalších produktech. Nadměrná konzumace palmového oleje má negativní vliv na zdraví, znečišťuje životní prostředí a přispívá k emisím skleníkových plynů. Masivní odlesňování pro výsadbu palmových plantáží ohrožuje živočišné druhy, včetně orangutanů. Nařízení EU umožňuje informovanou volbu spotřebitelů, kteří mohou preferovat produkty bez palmového oleje. Aplikace do mobilu pomáhá identifikovat výrobky obsahující palmový olej a nabízí alternativy.

Der Tag ohne Palmöl knüpft an die erfolgreiche Aktion "Tag, an dem wir den Unternehmen sagen, dass wir ihre Produkte mit Palmöl nicht wollen" an, die am 1. Februar 2016 stattfand. Dieser Tag erinnert vor allem daran, was bereits geschehen ist und was noch getan werden muss. Es ist eine Erinnerung an unsere globale Verantwortung. Es liegt an jedem von uns, das Geschehen auf der anderen Seite des Planeten aktiv zu beeinflussen. Wir bitten Sie daher, einen Tag, gerne auch zwei, drei, fünf oder auch jeden Tag ohne Palmöl zu leben, ohne Produkte, die es enthalten. Sie helfen sowohl Ihrer Gesundheit als auch der Natur und werden am Ende feststellen, dass Sie sogar Geld sparen, denn Sie brauchen eigentlich nicht so viele Produkte mit Palmöl.

Palmöl, das aus den Früchten der Ölpalme gewonnen wird und ursprünglich aus Afrika stammt, ist in etwa der Hälfte aller Lebensmittel enthalten: Margarine, Bratfette, Mayonnaise, Saucen, Pommes Frites, Chips, Kekse, Feingebäck, Eiscreme, Schokolade, gehärtete Pflanzenfette, Instant-Suppen und -Milch, Süßigkeiten, Eiscreme, Säuglingsnahrung, Kosmetik, Shampoos, Cremes, Rasierschaum und Seife, Tierfutter, industrielle Schmiermittel und Biokraftstoffe. 

Experten zufolge wirkt sich der übermäßige Konsum von raffiniertem Palmöl negativ auf unsere Gesundheit aus. Palmöl enthält viele ungesunde Fettsäuren und wenig gesunde. Der Verzehr fördert Immunerkrankungen sowie Herz- und Gefäßerkrankungen. Durch die Raffination entstehen krebserregende Substanzen und genetische Schäden. Die Umweltverschmutzung und Treibhausgase: 1 Hektar Regenwald kann im Vergleich zu 1 Hektar Palmölplantage 10-mal mehr Kohlenstoff speichern. Eine große Menge an Treibhausgasen entweicht aus Torfmooren, die in Palmölplantagen umgewandelt wurden. In den Böden der Torfmoore ist eine große Menge Kohlenstoff und Methan gespeichert, die bei Kontakt mit Luft freigesetzt werden. Weitere Treibhausgasemissionen entstehen durch das Abholzen von Wäldern und Torfmooren. Biokraftstoffe, die aus Palmöl von auf trockengelegten Torfmooren gewachsenen Früchten hergestellt werden, belasten die Atmosphäre viel stärker als konventionelle fossile Brennstoffe. Aufgrund der enormen Nachfrage wird immer mehr Palmöl benötigt, und somit auch größere Flächen für Plantagen. Since then, the Ramsar Convention Secretariat has been providing relevant information and materials to government agencies, non-governmental organizations, conservation organizations, and social groups celebrating World Wetlands Day to help them raise awareness about the value and benefits of wetlands and support their conservation and sustainable use. These activities include various seminars, festivals, announcements of newly designated Ramsar sites, newspaper articles, radio interviews, as well as nature walks and wetland restoration.

Wetlands and Sustainable Development Goals

Healthy wetlands are essential for achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 6, which focuses on ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, and its target 6.6, which aims to protect and restore water-related ecosystems; Goal 14, which relates to the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development, including its target 14.2, which strives for the sustainable management and protection of marine and coastal ecosystems; and Goal 15, which concerns life on land, and its target 15.1, which seeks to ensure the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services.

In any case, the future of humanity depends on wetlands. Wetlands not only clean and replenish our water, but also provide food, such as fish and rice, which feed billions of people. They also act as a natural sponge against floods and droughts. Wetlands have great biological diversity and play an important role as carbon sinks. Světový den luštěnin je důležitý pro udržitelný rozvoj, protože luštěniny jsou zdravé a ekologicky přínosné potraviny. Obsahují hodně proteinů, minerálů a vitaminů, jsou bezlepkové a mají nízký obsah tuku. Pěstování luštěnin je šetrné k životnímu prostředí, spotřebuje méně vody než produkce masa a může se provádět i na méně úrodné půdě. Luštěniny také zvyšují biodiverzitu krajiny a jsou dlouho trvanlivé. Jsou součástí tradičních pokrmů z celého světa, včetně české kuchyně.

Hülsenfrüchte sind von Natur aus glutenfrei und enthalten viele Mineralien und Vitamine der B-Gruppe. Der Anbau von Hülsenfrüchten hat auch viele Vorteile. Die Produktion von 1 kg Hülsenfrüchten verbraucht 1250 Liter Wasser, verglichen mit 13.000 Litern Wasser, die für 1 kg Rindfleisch benötigt werden. The World Pulses Day has a special significance for the goals of sustainable development 1 2 3 5 8 12 13 and 15. Pulses are rich in beneficial substances and overall very beneficial for our health. They contain a lot of proteins, but very little fat. Pulses are naturally gluten-free and contain a lot of iron, zinc, minerals, and B-group vitamins. The cultivation of pulses also has several advantages. The production of 1 kg of pulses consumes 1250 liters of water, which is ten times less than the amount of water needed for 1 kg of beef. Pulses can also be grown in less fertile soil and can withstand semi-arid areas. They increase biodiversity and provide shelter for other species of animals and insects. Pulses have a long shelf life and are a staple in many traditional dishes from around the world, including hummus, falafel, chili con carne, and English breakfast. Even the original Czech cuisine relies on pulses, such as lentil soup or pea porridge.

Šimpanz bonobo, známý také jako šimpanz trpasličí, je druh šimpanze, který se vyskytuje ve střední Africe. Živí se převážně rostlinnou stravou doplňovanou drobnými bezobratlými a občas i obratlovci. Bonobo žije ve skupinách se silnými sociálními vazbami a pohlavní styk hraje v jejich životě velkou roli. Je ohroženým druhem podle IUCN. Bonobové se nacházejí v malé části lesa v Demokratické republice Kongo a jsou kriticky ohroženi kvůli ničení lesů a ztrátě stanovišť v důsledku těžby coltanu. Existuje přibližně 6 000 druhů žab, z nichž 4 800 je známo po celém světě. V posledním desetiletí však vyhynulo asi 170 druhů žab kvůli lidské činnosti a plísňovým infekcím. Třetina světových druhů žab je kriticky ohrožena a od 80. let minulého století přibližně 120 druhů vyhynulo. Světový den žab je největší den na světě pro ochranu obojživelníků a slouží k zaměření na globální pokles populací žab po celém světě. Světový deň žiab sa oslavuje od roku 2009 a bol založený na ochranu rôznych druhov žiab pred vyhynutím. Žaby sú bezocasí obojživelníci, ktorých pôvod sa datuje takmer 256 miliónov rokov. V poslednom desaťročí však vyhynulo asi 170 druhov žiab, a to z rôznych dôvodov, ako je ľudská činnosť a plísňové infekcie. Populácia žiab výrazne poklesla od 50. rokov 20. storočia a približne tretina svetových druhov je kriticky ohrozená. Mnoho ochranárskych biológov pracuje na hľadaní a pochopení príčin týchto problémov a spôsobov ich riešenia. Žaby majú vynikajúce nočné videnie a mnoho druhov dokáže doskočiť viac než 20-násobok svojej dĺžky. Jedovaté druhy žiab sú často výrazne zafarbené a upozorňujú predátora na jedovatosť svojej kože.

V České republice dochází k dramatickému snižování populace vrabců domácích a vrabců polních. Počet těchto ptáků se v posledních desetiletích snížil o desítky milionů jedinců. The intensification of agriculture also affects the population of tree sparrows by reducing their food sources. The World Sparrow Day is an official event dedicated to raising awareness about the declining sparrow population. House sparrows are larger and predominantly live near human settlements, while tree sparrows are more associated with agricultural landscapes. Both species have distinct coloration patterns. The male house sparrow has dark brown wings, a grey head, and a black bib, while the female is light brown. Tree sparrows have a chestnut-brown head and a black spot on their white cheeks.

Valné shromáždění Organizace spojených národů dne 14. prosince 2022 formálně uznalo důležitost iniciativ nulového odpadu a vyhlásilo 30. březen Mezinárodním dnem nulového odpadu, který se má každoročně slavit od roku 2023.

Iniciativy nulového odpadu mohou podpořit řádné nakládání s odpady a minimalizovat odpad a předcházet jeho vzniku. To přispívá ke snížení znečištění, zmírnění klimatické krize, zachování biologické rozmanitosti, posílení potravinové bezpečnosti a zlepšení lidského zdraví.

Program OSN pro životní prostředí a UN-Habitat podpoří dodržování tohoto dne. Všechny členské státy organizace systému OSN a příslušné zúčastněné strany byly vyzvány, aby zaváděly iniciativy nulového odpadu na místní, regionální i národní úrovni.

Ľudstvo ročne vyprodukuje odhadom 224 miliárd ton tuhého komunálneho odpadu, z čoho len 55 percent sa spracováva v kontrolovaných zariadeniach. Jedným z hlavných cieľov tohto dňa je upozorniť na nebezpečenstvá, ktoré ohrozujú vtáky po celom svete a pomôcť ich ochrane a ochrane ich prostredia. Letos je patronem Dne Země společnost RAJA, která se snaží o ekologicky odpovědný přístup k podnikání. Die Idee eines massiven ökologischen Happenings wurde vom Senator Gaylord Nelson (1916-2005) entwickelt, der sich lange Zeit dafür einsetzte, Umweltfragen auf die politische Agenda zu bringen. In den USA trug er unter anderem zum Verbot des Pestizids DDT und des Kampfgases Agent Orange bei. Im Jahr 1970 schloss sich Nelson mit dem Aktivisten Daniel Hayes zusammen, der im April eine Aktion von Tausenden von Hochschulen und Universitäten aus allen Teilen der USA koordinierte. Über 20 Millionen Amerikaner beteiligten sich daran. Zu dieser Zeit gab es immer wieder Proteste gegen die Konsumgesellschaft, den Establishment oder den Vietnamkrieg. Die Aktion, bei der die Organisatoren unter anderem die Nutzung erneuerbarer Energien, das Recycling von Abfällen und die Beseitigung von Chemikalien, die die Ozonschicht zerstören, forderten, erfüllte ihren Zweck. Bereits im Dezember 1970 wurde die US-Umweltbehörde EPA gegründet und in den 70er Jahren wurden im Kongress mehrere Umweltgesetze und bedeutende gesetzgeberische Maßnahmen verabschiedet, wie das Luftreinhaltegesetz oder das Gesetz zum Schutz gefährdeter Arten. Im Jahr 1971 wurde dieser Feiertag erstmals von den Vereinten Nationen anerkannt und am 20. März 1971 begangen.
In den folgenden Jahren verbreitete sich der Earth Day auf der ganzen Welt. Im Jahr 1990 erreichte er anlässlich des 20. Jahrestages des US-Earth Day eine Massendimension, an der sich 200 Millionen Menschen in 140 Ländern, einschließlich der Tschechoslowakei, beteiligten. Zum ersten Mal beteiligte sich auch China an der Aktion. Die globale Aktion half unter anderem, die öffentliche Meinung auf den ersten Erdgipfel vorzubereiten, der zwei Jahre später in Rio de Janeiro stattfand.

Cílem je změnit legislativu a postupně ukončit veškeré testování na zvířatech v EU. V Česku je použití a zacházení se zvířaty pro pokusné účely upraveno zákonem o ochraně zvířat proti týrání a dalšími předpisy.

Es ist kein Geheimnis, dass Tiere bei solchen Tests unglaublich leiden. Obwohl seit 2004 in der EU das Testen von Kosmetika an Tieren verboten ist, gibt es immer noch Tests für kosmetische Inhaltsstoffe, da die Europäische Chemikalienagentur ECHA Tests für die Registrierung einzelner chemischer Substanzen verlangt. Einige Organisationen haben sich daher zur Initiative "Für Tierversuchsfreie Tests" zusammengeschlossen, um eine Petition zu unterzeichnen, die darauf abzielt, 1 Million Unterschriften zu sammeln, um die Europäische Kommission dazu zu bringen, sich mit den Forderungen der Initiative zu befassen. Die Verwendung und der Umgang mit Tieren für Versuchszwecke werden durch das Gesetz Nr. 246/1992 über den Schutz von Tieren vor Misshandlung und die entsprechenden Verordnungen, das Gesetz Nr. 418/2012 über den Schutz von Tieren bei der Tötung, das Gesetz Nr. 419/2012 über den Schutz von Versuchstieren und das Gesetz Nr. 166/1999 über die tierärztliche Versorgung und die Änderung einiger damit zusammenhängender Gesetze teilweise geregelt.

Therefore, some organizations have formed the initiative "Za pokusy bez zvířat" (For experiments without animals) to gather 1 million signatures for the European Commission to address their demands. These demands include protecting and strengthening the ban on testing cosmetic products on animals, changing the EU regulation on chemicals to ensure the protection of human health and the environment without additional animal testing requirements, and modernizing science in the EU by gradually ending all animal testing before the end of the current electoral term. The use and treatment of animals for experimental purposes are regulated by Czech and European laws.

Vodicí psi jsou nejen věrnými partnery svých majitelů, ale také jim pomáhají po celý den, chrání je před úrazy, pomáhají s úkoly a poskytují emocionální podporu. Mezinárodní den vodicích psů je příležitostí k uznání a oslavě práce, kterou tito psi vykonávají. Historie vodicích psů sahá až do starověkých dob a v 19. století byly zavedeny první právní předpisy uznávající vodicí psy. Vodicí psi mají dovednosti vedení nevidomých, asistování při koníčcích, sbírání věcí a poskytování emocionální pohody. Mezinárodní den vodicích psů můžeme oslavit tím, že se dozvíme více o vodicích psech, podpoříme je a sdílíme tento svátek s rodinou a přáteli.
