World Lion Day is an opportunity for lion lovers around the world to stand up against the loss of lion habitats and territories. Lions are among the largest terrestrial apex predators, with a reputation like no other. It would be a tragic loss for nature and humanity if this species were to disappear completely from their natural environment. However, the threats to lions are all too real. They face two major threats - the increasingly popular trophy hunting and human encroachment into their traditional wilderness. The reduction in their natural prey combined with hunting tourism makes them more vulnerable every year. In the past four decades, the lion population has decreased by fifty percent.

The famous example from Yellowstone shows how the behavior of herbivores changed due to the presence of wolves, leading to landscape transformation. Another example is the relationship between wolves and bovine tuberculosis, best studied in Slovakia. Wolves remove sick individuals, thus preventing the spread of the disease. Some call them "wilderness doctors." Wolves also control the fox population, allowing bird and rodent prey to thrive. Additionally, wolf kills provide food for scavengers, and the increased number of wild boars damaging agricultural fields can be reduced, as wolves are their only natural predator.

The European Union has declared wolves as strictly protected, but member states have different interpretations of what this means in practice. Some countries, like Slovakia and certain regions of Spain, can legally cull wolves to some extent. However, even Spain halted wolf culling activities last season, while illegal killing of wolves continues in many other countries.

What happens when wolves leave protected areas and venture near human settlements is a question that has been concerning many people lately. Humans constantly degrade natural habitats for wolves and other species through deforestation, expanding agricultural land, and urbanization, leading to rapid loss of natural areas. Therefore, it is inevitable that wolves move out of their natural environment and seek new territories. However, animals often end up in human settlements, causing conflicts between people and wildlife.

The key question is how humans can mitigate conflicts and achieve coexistence with wolves and other wild animals. For example, in 2018, the European Wilderness Society participated in an EU Platform workshop on human-wildlife coexistence. The workshop focused on the current use of EU funds to support coexistence and prevent livestock depredation. The outcome of the workshop was a set of recommendations on how organizations can use EU funds to support local communities and prevent livestock depredation. To minimize conflicts between humans and wolves, people should implement the following recommendations:

- Simplify the application process to make it easier for individual farmers to fill out forms.
- Increase support to cover maintenance and additional work costs, as well as equipment expenses.
- Reduce the number of tools used to support coexistence.
- Communicate requirements for financial support more effectively.
- Clearly communicate to political parties the presence of large predators and the need for preventive measures.

Svetový deň kosatiek bol založený v roku 2013 a odvtedy ho podporuje viac ako 40 neziskových organizácií a subjektov z celého sveta. Kosatky sú jedným z najrozšírenejších druhov kytovcov a žijú vo vodách od okrajov ľadovcov po tropické oblasti. Existuje mnoho rôznych ekotypov kosatiek, ktoré sa líšia veľkosťou, správaním a lovnými technikami. Kosatky sú zraniteľné a citlivé na zmeny v ich prostredí, preto je dôležité ich chrániť. Medzinárodný deň veľrybích žralokov, založený v roku 2012, oslavuje tieto jemné obry. Veľrybí žraloky dorastajúce do dĺžky až 14 metrov a hmotnosti 12 ton majú tvár, ktorú môže milovať len matka. Tento deň má však vážny účel, a to zvýšiť povedomie o tom, ako boli tieto zvieratá lovené pre svoje vysoce cenene ploutvy a mäso.

Bohužiaľ, veľrybí žralok bol v roku 2016 prekvalifikovaný IUCN a presunul sa zo zraniteľného druhu na ohrozený, čo je neuveriteľne znepokojujúce. Existuje niekoľko dôvodov, prečo ich počet klesá. Okrem lovu sa žraloci veľrybí často zrazia s člnmi a uväznia sa v rybárskych sieťach. V niektorých častiach Ázie sú produkty vyrobené zo žralokov veľrybích veľmi žiadané.

V průběhu září se uskuteční řada regionálních akcí na podporu biopotravin a ekologického zemědělství, jako jsou biojarmarky, biodožínky, dny otevřených vrátek na biofarmách a exkurze do výroby. Veřejnost tak může navštívit české ekofarmy, ochutnat biopotraviny přímo ze dvora a seznámit se s principy ekologické produkce. V rámci kampaně se také vyhlašuje soutěž Česká biopotravina. Mezinárodní den povědomí o supech je akce, která se koná první sobotu v září a má za cíl zvýšit povědomí o supích ptácích. Tato akce začala v roce 2009 a od té doby se rozšířila po celém světě. As some species are seriously threatened with extinction, International Vulture Awareness Day aims to educate and change public perceptions about the critical role these birds play in the environment. There are various ways to celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day, such as attending vulture events at local zoos or nature parks, watching documentaries about vultures, organizing a vulture-themed party, donating to vulture conservation organizations, and learning about the benefits vultures provide to the environment.

Es ist dringend erforderlich, das Bewusstsein der Öffentlichkeit weltweit für die Situation dieser bedrohten Vögel und die Notwendigkeit des Schutzes und der Erforschung von Küstenvögeln zu erhöhen. Gesunde Populationen von Küstenvögeln hängen von gesunden Lebensräumen ab. Die Zerstörung von Lebensräumen, das Töten von Zugvögeln, globale Klimaprobleme, Unwissenheit der Öffentlichkeit und viele andere Faktoren führen zu rückläufigen Trends bei den meisten Küstenvogelpopulationen. Es ist mehr denn je dringend erforderlich, weltweit Maßnahmen zu ergreifen, um Menschen und Küstenvögel miteinander zu verbinden. Der World Shorebirds Day wurde mit folgenden Zielen ins Leben gerufen: das Bewusstsein für die Notwendigkeit des Schutzes von Küstenvögeln und ihren Lebensräumen während ihres Lebenszyklus zu erhöhen, das Bewusstsein der Öffentlichkeit für die Notwendigkeit fortlaufender Forschung, Überwachung und Schutz von Küstenvögeln zu erhöhen und Menschen mit Küstenvögeln durch Feuchtgebiete auf der ganzen Welt zu verbinden. Es geht darum, das Bewusstsein für die Bedeutung sauberer Luft für Gesundheit, Produktivität, Wirtschaft und Umwelt zu erhöhen, den engen Zusammenhang zwischen Luftqualität und anderen Umwelt- und Entwicklungsproblemen wie dem Klimawandel aufzuzeigen, Lösungen zu fördern, die die Luftqualität verbessern, indem sie nutzbares Wissen, bewährte Verfahren, Innovationen und erfolgreiche Beispiele teilen, und verschiedene Akteure für gemeinsame nationale, regionale und internationale Ansätze zur effektiven Luftqualitätssteuerung zu verbinden.

Der diesjährige Schirmherr des Internationalen Tages für saubere Luft unter blauem Himmel ist das Unternehmen DPD, Teil des größten Paketversandsystems in Europa, Geopost. Der Grund, warum DPD Schirmherr geworden ist, ist seine langjährige und intensive Arbeit für eine bessere Umwelt, insbesondere durch kohlenstoffneutrale Transporte. Bis 2025 werden in Prag und Ostrava alle DPD-Fahrzeuge nur noch emissionsarm sein und durch Fahrrad- und Fußkurier ergänzt werden. Das Unternehmen ist auch der erste globale Transporteur mit wissenschaftlich bestätigten Emissionsreduktionszielen von der führenden unabhängigen wissenschaftlichen Plattform SBTi.

Wir sind sehr froh, dass wir Schirmherr dieses Tages geworden sind, denn die Verbesserung der Luftqualität ist eine unserer Hauptprioritäten. Wir arbeiten kontinuierlich daran, unseren Transport so umweltfreundlich wie möglich zu gestalten, nicht nur medial. Der Projekt zur Verbesserung der Luftqualität ist das Monitoring-Projekt. Seit über 2 Jahren fahren täglich 90 DPD-Fahrzeuge mit speziellen Überwachungsgeräten durch Prag. The aim of this international day is to increase awareness of the importance of clean air for health, productivity, the economy, and the environment. It also aims to show the close connection between air quality and other environmental and development challenges, such as climate change. The day supports solutions that improve air quality through the sharing of knowledge, best practices, innovations, and successful examples. It brings together various stakeholders for effective air quality management at national, regional, and international levels.

The company DPD, part of the largest parcel delivery network in Europe, Geopost, has become the patron of this year's International Day of Clean Air for blue skies. DPD has been recognized for its long-term and intensive work on environmental improvement, particularly through carbon-neutral transport. By 2025, all DPD vehicles in Prague and Ostrava will be low-emission, supplemented by cycling and walking couriers. DPD is also the first global carrier with scientifically confirmed emission reduction targets from the leading independent scientific platform SBTi.

DPD is pleased to be the patron of this day as improving air quality is one of its main priorities. The company has been working on making its transport as environmentally friendly as possible, not just in terms of media coverage. DPD also aims to educate the public and is part of its communication strategy to raise awareness about greenwashing and help people recognize it. DPD is open to collaboration with other companies and municipalities.

The project of measuring air quality is directly related to improving air quality. For over 2 years, 90 DPD delivery vans with special monitoring devices have been driving through Prague every day. Every Prague resident can check the air quality on different streets on a dedicated website. The devices are also installed on several dozen buildings. The project has been recognized in a sustainability ranking.

In addition to its long-term collaboration with the volunteer action "Clean Czechia," where DPD is the main transportation partner, DPD has also become the patron of the International Day of Clean Air as part of their new project, EKOkalendar.cz. Their air monitoring web application is a great example of how even large companies can actively contribute to environmental protection and corporate social responsibility.

Apart from the International Day of Clean Air, the EKOkalendar by the organization "Clean Czechia" includes more than 230 other environmental days and holidays, along with detailed information about them. Cieľom Medzinárodného dňa čistého ovzdušia je zvýšiť povedomie o význame čistého ovzdušia pre zdravie, produktivitu, ekonomiku a životné prostredie. Taktiež sa snaží ukázať súvislosti medzi kvalitou ovzdušia a ďalšími environmentálnymi a rozvojovými výzvami, ako je zmena klímy. Podporuje riešenia, ktoré zlepšujú kvalitu ovzdušia a spája rôzne aktéry pre efektívne riadenie kvality ovzdušia. Patronom tohto dňa sa stala spoločnosť DPD, ktorá sa zaviazala k uhlíkovo neutrálnej preprave a redukcii emisií. Spoločnosť DPD tiež spolupracuje s projektom EKOkalendář, ktorý monitoruje kvalitu ovzdušia v Prahe. Projekt EKOkalendář poskytuje informácie o viac ako 230 dňoch a sviatkoch týkajúcich sa životného prostredia.

Zakoupením čokolády s označením Fairtrade programu pro kakao přispějete ke zlepšení podmínek pěstitelů a ochraně životního prostředí. Pěstování kakaa je hlavním zdrojem příjmů pro miliony pěstitelů, ale rodiny často žijí v chudobě. Kakaovníky jsou náchylné ke škůdcům a chorobám, což ovlivňuje produkci. Mladí lidé nevidí v pěstování kakaa budoucnost a odcházejí do měst. Nadnárodní koncerny mají vliv na obchod s kakaem a ceny často kolísají. V České republice je dostupná široká škála fairtradových čokoládových výrobků, které jsou stále populárnější. Většina pěstitelů kakaa nikdy neochutnala čokoládu, ale farmáři s fairtradovou certifikací vlastní čokoládovny. Čtvrtina fairtradových pěstitelů kakaa jsou ženy.

Trotz der steigenden Nachfrage reichen die Einkommen der Kleinbauern nicht aus, um ihre Familien zu ernähren. Vor allem in Westafrika ist Kinderarbeit verbreitet. Der Kauf von Schokolade und anderen Kakaoprodukten mit dem FAIRTRADE-Siegel trägt wesentlich zur Verbesserung der Lebens- und Arbeitsbedingungen der Kakaobauern und ihrer Familien in den Ländern des globalen Südens bei und fördert den Umweltschutz. Der Anbau von Kakao ist die Haupteinnahmequelle für über 55 Millionen Bauern im globalen Süden und sichert den Lebensunterhalt von über 14 Millionen Menschen. In den Hauptanbaugebieten in Westafrika bauen 90% der Kleinbauern auf Plantagen von weniger als 5 Hektar Kakao an. Die häufigsten Probleme beim Kakaoanbau sind die niedrigen Einkommen der Familien, Kinderarbeit, alternde Kakao-Bäume, der Einfluss multinationaler Konzerne und die Preisschwankungen auf dem Weltmarkt.

Cocoa is one of the most important commodities on the global market, but small-scale cocoa farmers struggle to make a living. Child labor is prevalent in cocoa-producing regions, particularly in West Africa. By purchasing chocolate and other cocoa products with the FAIRTRADE label, consumers can significantly improve the living and working conditions of cocoa farmers in developing countries and support environmental protection. Cocoa cultivation is the main source of income for over 55 million farmers in the Global South, providing livelihoods for over 14 million people. However, these farmers face numerous challenges, including low incomes, child labor, aging cocoa trees, declining production, youth migration to urban slums, and the increasing influence of multinational corporations. Fairtrade chocolate is available in the Czech Republic, with a growing demand for Fairtrade cocoa. Most cocoa farmers have never tasted chocolate, but Fairtrade-certified farmers in Ghana own 44 chocolate factories, making Divine Chocolate one of the largest and most well-known British chocolate producers. A quarter of Fairtrade cocoa farmers are women.

Koalice Za snadné dárcovství vyhlašuje Měsíc dobročinné závěti, který probíhá od 13. září do 13. října 2023. Cílem je upozornit na možnost konání dobrých skutků prostřednictvím dobročinné závěti. Dárcům, kteří ve své závěti pamatují na dobročinnou organizaci, bude proplacen notářský poplatek za sepsání závěti. Češi jsou podle průzkumů štědrým národem a čím dál více se otevírají i méně obvyklým cestám podpory dobročinnosti, jako jsou právě závěti. Česká společnost ornitologická má již zkušenosti s dary ze závěti a vděčí za ně důležitou finanční rezervu, která byla klíčová během pandemie. Die Koalition "Für einfache Spenden" gibt anlässlich des Internationalen Testaments-Tages jedes Jahr den Monat des wohltätigen Testaments bekannt. In der Zeit vom 13. September bis 13. Oktober 2023 erstattet die Stiftung Via den Spendern, die in ihrem letzten Willen an eine wohltätige Organisation, die ihnen am Herzen liegt, den Notargebühren für die Erstellung des Testaments berücksichtigen, die Notargebühren. The Coalition for Easy Donation, with the financial support of the Via Foundation on the occasion of International Will Day, annually announces the Month of Charitable Wills. From September 13 to October 13, 2023, donors who remember the charitable organization close to their hearts in their last will and testament will have their notary fees reimbursed. The goal is to raise awareness that through charitable wills, good deeds can be done both during and after life. Money, real estate, securities, and any small gift counts.

Surveys repeatedly show that Czechs are a generous nation. For example, according to the latest World Giving Index for 2021, philanthropy in the Czech Republic ranked a very respectable 13th out of 119 countries surveyed. In 2021, we were even the fastest-growing annual donors. However, Czech giving is not only growing in one-time aid during crises, such as the tornado in 2021 or last year's phenomenal solidarity with Ukraine. Lucie Hošková, Head of Public Relations at the Czech Society for Ornithology, adds that the Czech Society for Ornithology (CSO) already has experience with bequests. We gratefully remember Mrs. Eugenia Venzarová, a CSO member and a great bird lover. Mrs. Venzarová was a very cultured and well-traveled woman, but her greatest love was birds. Therefore, she bequeathed half of her savings to the CSO in her will. This generous act provided the CSO with an important financial reserve, which proved crucial during the COVID pandemic and the related economic crisis. Mrs. Venzarová was not the only one who remembered birds in her will through the CSO. We deeply appreciate other CSO supporters who we know also think of bird conservation in their wills, and we are very pleased that they see a deep meaning in the work of the CSO that they want to help fulfill with their legacy.

Es gibt verschiedene Möglichkeiten, diesen Tag zu feiern. Eine Veranstaltung zum Get Ready Day zu planen, ist eine perfekte Möglichkeit, die Aufmerksamkeit auf diesen Tag und die ernste Natur der Vorbereitung auf jede Art von Krise zu lenken. Schulen, Hochschulen und Gemeindezentren können auch Vorträge halten, Informationsmaterial verteilen und Ratschläge geben, wie man sich am besten auf potenzielle Gefahren und Katastrophen vorbereiten kann.

Jeder Haushalt, jede Schule, jedes Unternehmen und jeder andere Ort kann besser auf Katastrophen reagieren, wenn sie vorbereitet sind. Im Gegensatz zum Großen Panda ist der Rote Panda nicht eng mit ihm verwandt und hat eine unterschiedliche Bevölkerungsgeschichte. Die Rote Panda ist etwas größer als eine Hauskatze, hat ein rotbraunes Fell und einen langen Schwanz, der ihr hilft, das Gleichgewicht auf Bäumen zu halten. Es gibt kaum Unterschiede zwischen Männchen und Weibchen, und die Jungen ähneln den erwachsenen Tieren. In freier Wildbahn haben Rote Pandas eine durchschnittliche Lebenserwartung von 8-10 Jahren. Sie leben in den Bergwäldern Südchinas, Nepals, Bhutans, Indiens und Myanmars und sind eines der höchstlebenden Tiere der Welt, die sich auch in Höhen von über 4.000 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel aufhalten. Ihre Nahrung besteht hauptsächlich aus Bambus, aber sie ergänzen ihre Ernährung gelegentlich mit Beeren, Eiern oder kleinen Tieren. Rote Pandas sind Einzelgänger und vor allem in der Dämmerung und Dämmerung aktiv. Im Jahr 2018 wurden sie in etwa 170 europäischen Zoos gehalten, darunter auch in einigen tschechischen Zoos wie dem Zoo Brno, dem Zoopark Chomutov, dem Zoo Jihlava, dem Zoo Liberec, dem Zoo Ostrava, dem Zoo Plzeň, dem Zoo Praha, dem Zoo Ústí nad Labem, dem Zoo Zlín und dem Zoo Olomouc.

The red panda, also known as the lesser panda, is a small arboreal mammal and the only representative of the Ailuridae family. It is slightly larger than a domestic cat, has reddish-brown fur, and a long tail that helps it maintain balance in trees. There are two recognized subspecies of red panda: the Chinese red panda and the Himalayan red panda, which have different population histories. Red pandas live in mountainous forests in southern China, Nepal, Bhutan, India, and Myanmar, and primarily feed on bamboo. They are solitary animals and are active mainly at dawn and dusk. The female gives birth to about 1-2 cubs after a gestation period of 3-4 months and takes care of them for about a year. The red panda is classified as an endangered species due to habitat loss and fragmentation, as well as occasional hunting for fur. They are popularly kept in zoos for their appearance and lower maintenance compared to giant pandas. In Europe, they are bred in approximately 170 zoos, including several zoos in the Czech Republic.

Panda červená je menší stromová šelma, která je jediným zástupcem čeledi pandy malé. Existují dva poddruhy červené pandy - čínská a himálajská panda červená. Pandě červené se daří přežít v horských lesích jižní Číny, Nepálu, Bhútánu, Indii a Myanmaru. Její potravu tvoří převážně bambus, ale občas si zpestří jídelníček bobulemi, vejci nebo menšími zvířaty. Panda červená je samotářské zvíře, které je aktivní hlavně za úsvitu a soumraku. Samice rodí obvykle 1 až 2 mláďata, která jsou při narození bezmocná a matka se o ně stará zhruba rok. Panda červená je ohrožený druh, žije v přírodě asi jen 16 000-20 000 jedinců. Její hlavními hrozbami jsou ztráta přirozeného prostředí a lov pro kožešinu. Pandy červené jsou populární v zoologických zahradách, kde jsou chovány pro svůj vzhled a menší náročnost než panda velká. V Česku je lze vidět ve více než polovině zoologických zahrad, například v Zoo Praha, Zoo Brno, Zoo Liberec a dalších.

Den nulových emisí, slavený každoročně 21. září, je globální iniciativa, jejímž cílem je dopřát planetě alespoň jeden den odpočinku od emisí skleníkových plynů a fosilních paliv. Lidé po celém světě se zapojují různými způsoby – například jízdou na kole, chůzí, omezením používání elektrických spotřebičů, vynecháním vaření nebo důsledným tříděním odpadu. Každý malý krok má význam a přispívá ke zlepšení stavu životního prostředí.

September gefeiert wird, ist eine weltweite Initiative mit dem Ziel, dem Planeten wenigstens einen Tag Ruhe von Treibhausgasemissionen und fossilen Brennstoffen zu gönnen. Menschen auf der ganzen Welt beteiligen sich auf unterschiedliche Weise – etwa durch Radfahren, zu Fuß gehen, den Verzicht auf elektrische Geräte, das Auslassen des Kochens oder durch sorgfältige Mülltrennung. Jede noch so kleine Handlung zählt und trägt zur Verbesserung der Umwelt bei.

Zero Emissions Day, celebrated annually on September 21st, is a global initiative aimed at giving the planet at least one day of rest from greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuels. People around the world participate in various ways – by cycling, walking, reducing the use of electrical appliances, skipping cooking, or properly sorting waste. Every small action matters and contributes to improving the state of the environment.

Deň nulových emisií, ktorý sa každoročne oslavuje 21. septembra, je globálna iniciatíva s cieľom dopriať planéte aspoň jeden deň oddychu od emisií skleníkových plynov a fosílnych palív. Ľudia po celom svete sa zapájajú rôznymi spôsobmi – napríklad jazdou na bicykli, chôdzou, obmedzením používania elektrických spotrebičov, vynechaním varenia alebo dôsledným triedením odpadu. Každý malý krok má význam a prispieva k zlepšeniu stavu životného prostredia.

Evropský týden mobility (ETM) je celotýdenní kampaň, která se koná každoročně od 16. do 22. září. Cílem kampaně je podpora udržitelné dopravy a města a obce se mohou do kampaně zapojit realizací různých aktivit. V České republice se kampaně účastní převážná část měst a obcí, které jsou členy Národní sítě zdravých měst. Zapojení do kampaně vyžaduje schválení Charty, která stanovuje pravidla a rámec akce. Koordinaci kampaní v ČR zajišťuje Ministerstvo životního prostředí. Kromě ETM se v Česku také konají další akce na podporu udržitelné a aktivní mobility, například Pěšky do školy, Do práce na kole nebo Výzva 10 000 kroků. V roce 2022 se kampaně zúčastnilo téměř 3000 obcí v 51 zemích, v ČR se oficiálně zapojilo 26 obcí.

Im Rahmen der EMW führen lokale Behörden eine Vielzahl von Aktivitäten zur nachhaltigen Mobilität durch. Die Teilnahme an den Kampagnen steht allen Städten, Gemeinden und Regionen offen, die Interesse an nachhaltiger Mobilität haben. Die nationale Koordination beider Kampagnen in der Tschechischen Republik wird vom Ministerium für Umwelt übernommen. Im Jahr 2022 nahmen fast 3000 Gemeinden in 51 Ländern, darunter 26 Gemeinden in der Tschechischen Republik, an den Kampagnen teil. Weitere Gemeinden, Städte und gemeinnützige Organisationen unterstützten die Europäische Mobilitätswoche informell mit eigenen Aktionen.

The European Mobility Week (EMW) is an annual campaign that takes place from 16th to 22nd September, aimed at promoting sustainable transportation. In the Czech Republic, the campaign has been organized since 2002, with the majority of participating cities and municipalities being members of the National Network for Sustainable Mobility. Municipalities can choose to participate in the full week-long campaign or organize a one-day event. Participation requires the approval of the Charter, which sets the rules and framework for the campaign. The Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic coordinates the national implementation of the campaign. In addition to EMW, various organizations in the Czech Republic organize events to promote sustainable and active mobility, such as "Walking to School," "Cycle to Work," "10,000 Steps Challenge," and "Experience the City Differently." In 2022, nearly 3,000 municipalities from 51 countries participated in the campaign, including 26 municipalities in the Czech Republic.

V roce 2002 byl Evropský den bez aut rozšířen na celotýdenní kampaň s názvem Evropský týden mobility (ETM). Tato kampaň probíhá od 16. do 22. září a místní úřady v rámci ní realizují různé aktivity zaměřené na udržitelnou dopravu. V České republice se kampaně ETM a Evropský den bez aut (EDBA) realizují od roku 2002 a většinu zapojených měst a obcí tvoří členové NSZM ČR. Účast v kampaních je otevřena všem městům, obcím a regionům, které mají zájem o problematiku udržitelné dopravy. Municipality mohou realizovat celotýdenní kampaň nebo se rozhodnout pouze pro jednodenní kampaň EDBA. Zapojení města do kampaní vyžaduje schválení Charty, která stanovuje pravidla a rámec akce. Národní koordinaci obou kampaní v ČR zajišťuje Ministerstvo životního prostředí ČR. V Česku se do kampaní zapojuje také řada organizací, například Pěšky do školy, Do práce na kole, Výzva 10 000 kroků nebo Zažít město jinak. V roce 2022 se kampaním zúčastnilo téměř 3000 obcí v 51 zemích. V České republice se oficiálně zapojilo 26 obcí, mezi nimi Hradec Králové, Chrudim, Karlovy Vary, Havířov, Velké Meziříčí nebo Kopřivnice. Společně pracovali na tom, aby se tento den stal mezinárodním úspěchem. Světový den nosorožců se od té doby stal celosvětovým fenoménem, který spojuje různé organizace a jednotlivce z různých zemí. Nosorožci jsou ohroženým druhem a jsou ilegálně loveni pro své rohy, které jsou využívány v tradiční medicíně a pro výrobu nožů. I když je lov nosorožců považován za přežitek a barbarství, stále se praktikuje.

Alles begann mit einer E-Mail. Mitte 2011 plante Lisa Jane Campbell von der Chishakwe Ranch in Simbabwe den Welt-Nashorn-Tag. Sie suchte im Internet nach Ideen und potenziellen Partnern und fand Rhishjins Blog. Seitdem ist der Welt-Nashorn-Tag zu einem weltweiten Phänomen geworden, das NGOs, Zoos, Unternehmen und engagierte Einzelpersonen aus fast allen Teilen der Welt verbindet. Nashörner sind in vielen Ländern illegal wegen ihrer Hörner gejagt. Das pulverisierte Nashornhorn ist ein Bestandteil einiger Volksheilmittel und Aphrodisiaka, zum Beispiel in der traditionellen chinesischen Medizin. China hat jedoch offiziell Maßnahmen zum Schutz der Natur ergriffen. In anderen Ländern werden aus den Hörnern traditioneller Messergriffe und Dolche geschnitzt. Die Notwendigkeit, Nashörner zu jagen, wird weltweit als Überbleibsel und Barbarei abgelehnt, aber die Volkspraxis ist ihnen immer noch nicht wohlgesonnen.

It all started with an email. In mid-2011, Lisa Jane Campbell from Chishakwe Ranch in Zimbabwe was planning World Rhino Day. She found Rhishj's blog while searching for ideas and potential collaborators online. Lisa Jane sent Rhishj an email, and they both realized they shared the goal of making World Rhino Day a day of celebration for all five rhino species. In the following months, they worked together to make World Rhino Day 2011 an international success both online and offline. Since then, World Rhino Day has become a global phenomenon, bringing together NGOs, zoos, related organizations, businesses, and individuals from almost all corners of the world.

Rhinoceroses are one of the living families of the order Perissodactyla. Currently, we know 56 living species in four genera. All rhino species are endangered.

Rhinos are illegally hunted for their horns in many countries. Crushed horn, or rhino horn powder, is used in some traditional medicines and aphrodisiacs, such as in traditional Chinese medicine. However, China has officially committed to nature conservation according to CITES. In other countries, rhino horns are carved into handles for traditional knives and daggers. While the necessity of hunting rhinos is universally rejected as outdated and barbaric, popular practices still pose a threat to them.

Od té doby se tento den stal celosvětovým fenoménem, který spojuje organizace, zoologické zahrady, podniky a jednotlivce z celého světa. Nosorožci jsou ohroženým druhem a jsou ilegálně loveni pro své rohy, které se používají v tradiční medicíně a na výrobu nožů. Nicméně, ochrana přírody se stává stále důležitější a lov nosorožců je považován za přežitek a barbarství.

Evropský parlament, Rada Evropské unie a Evropská komise vyhlásily 23. září Evropským dnem ekologického zemědělství, který má za cíl zvýšit informovanost o ekologické produkci v Evropské unii. Komise rovněž uděluje ceny za ekologický přístup ve všech fázích potravinového řetězce. Ekologické zemědělství přináší výhody pro klima a biodiverzitu, například snižuje emise skleníkových plynů a zvyšuje sekvestraci uhlíku v půdě. Tento systém také spotřebovává méně energie a minimalizuje ztráty dusíku. Ekologické hospodaření také zlepšuje kvalitu půdy a zvyšuje její úrodnost.

Der Europäische Tag der ökologischen Landwirtschaft wurde von drei wichtigen EU-Institutionen, dem Europäischen Parlament, dem Rat der Europäischen Union und der Europäischen Kommission, ausgerufen. Ziel ist es, das Bewusstsein für ökologische Produktion in der Europäischen Union zu erhöhen. Die Europäische Kommission vergibt auch jährlich Preise für ökologische Ansätze als Anerkennung für Exzellenz in allen Phasen der ökologischen Lebensmittelkette. Im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten werden auch in diesem Jahr die besten und innovativsten Akteure mit den Europäischen Preisen für ökologische Landwirtschaft ausgezeichnet. Die Preisverleihung findet am 25. September 2023 statt. Die Europäische Kommission wird auch die Entwicklung von Netzwerken für nachhaltigen Ökotourismus durch Bioregionen unterstützen. Bioregionen sind Gebiete, in denen Landwirte, Bürger, Tourismusbetreiber, Verbände und öffentliche Organe zusammenarbeiten, um lokale Ressourcen auf der Grundlage ökologischer Prinzipien und Verfahren nachhaltig zu bewirtschaften. Der Präsident von IFOAM Organics Europe, Jan Plagge, sagte, der Europäische Tag der ökologischen Landwirtschaft sei eine ideale Gelegenheit, um Bilanz zu ziehen, wie gut Europa das Ziel von 25 Prozent ökologisch bewirtschafteter Fläche bis 2030 erreicht, Trends in der Verbrauchernachfrage zu formen, das Bewusstsein für ökologische Landwirtschaft in der gesamten Lieferkette zu erhöhen und die Aktivitäten des Europäischen Aktionsplans für ökologische Landwirtschaft umzusetzen. The European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European Commission have declared September 23 as the European Day of Organic Farming to raise awareness about organic production in the European Union. The Commission also annually awards prizes for organic approaches as recognition of excellence in all stages of the organic food chain. The awards ceremony will take place on September 25, 2023. The European Commission will also support the development of organic tourism networks through bioregions, where farmers, citizens, tourism operators, associations, and public authorities will collaborate on sustainable management of local resources based on ecological principles and practices. The President of IFOAM Organics Europe, Jan Plagge, stated that the European Day of Organic Farming will be an ideal opportunity to assess Europe's progress in achieving the goal of 25% organically managed land by 2030, shaping consumer demand trends, raising awareness about organic farming throughout the supply chain, and implementing activities of the European Action Plan for Organic Farming.

Organic farming brings several benefits for climate and biodiversity, as highlighted in a document on the benefits of organic farming published by the IFOAM OE organization. Changing the way food is produced can have a significant impact on mitigating climate change, helping farmers adapt, and contributing to biodiversity protection. Organic farming offers a systemic approach to increasing carbon sequestration in soil while maintaining healthy soil and protecting biodiversity. Organic farming consumes less energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

By relying on closed nutrient cycles and minimizing nitrogen losses, organic farming can reduce global greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture by approximately 20%. Abandoning the use of synthetic fertilizers reduces nitrous oxide emissions from soil by 40% per hectare in organic production systems. Animals in organic farming have access to pasture and open spaces, and 60% of their feed must come from the farm or the same region. Thanks to the reduced number of animals and the pasture-based organic farming system, emissions are reduced, and carbon stocks in the soil improve. Organic farming often utilizes better manure management, such as composting, which can reduce nitrous oxide emissions by 50% and methane emissions by 70%. Organic farming has higher energy efficiency and lower energy consumption per hectare, consuming approximately 15% less energy per unit of production compared to conventional farming.

Organic farming sequesters more carbon. Many common practices of organic farming, such as crop rotation including legumes or limited soil tillage, help improve soil quality and fertility and significantly contribute to increased carbon sequestration of an additional 450 kg C/ha per year compared to conventionally managed soil.

Komise uděluje ceny za ekologický přístup ve všech fázích potravinového řetězce. Slavnostní předávání cen proběhne 25. září 2023. Komise také podporuje rozvoj sítí ekologického cestovního ruchu prostřednictvím bioregionů. Ekologické zemědělství přináší výhody pro klima a biodiverzitu, spotřebovává méně energie a snižuje emise skleníkových plynů. Mnoho postupů ekologického zemědělství pomáhá zlepšovat kvalitu a úrodnost půdy a zvyšuje sekvestraci uhlíku.

Gorily jsou kriticky ohroženým druhem žijícím v tropických a subtropických lesích střední Afriky. Jejich biotopy pokrývají velký rozsah nadmořských výšek. Gorily jsou ohrožovány pytláky, likvidací svého biotopu a obchodem s divokou zvěří. Virus Ebola také představuje velké nebezpečí pro přežití goril. Existují však projekty a organizace, které se snaží o zachování tohoto druhu, jako je Great Apes Survival Project a mezinárodní Smlouva o ochraně goril a jejich biotopu. Tato smlouva je prvním právním nástrojem zavazujícím k ochraně goril.

Gorilla Gorilla ist eine Gattung der größten lebenden Primaten. Sie leben auf dem Boden und sind hauptsächlich Pflanzenfresser. Sie bewohnen die Wälder Zentralafrikas. Gorillas werden nach einigen Biologen in zwei Arten und vier Unterarten unterteilt. Die DNA der Gorillas stimmt zu 98 bis 99% mit der des Menschen überein und sind nach Schimpansen die engsten Verwandten des Menschen.
Gorillas bewohnen tropische und subtropische Wälder. Obwohl ihr Vorkommen nur wenige Prozent der Fläche Afrikas umfasst, erstrecken sich ihre Lebensräume über einen großen Höhenbereich. Die östliche Gorilla lebt in den Virunga-Bergen in Höhenlagen von 2225 bis 4267 m über dem Meeresspiegel. Die westliche Gorilla lebt in dichten Wäldern und Sümpfen, auch auf Meereshöhe.
Beide Gorillaarten sind bedroht. Gorillas waren lange Zeit das Ziel von Wilderern. Darüber hinaus bedroht die Zerstörung ihres Lebensraums und der Handel mit Wildtieren die Gorillas. Im Jahr 2004 dezimierte das Ebola-Virus buchstäblich die Population von mehreren hundert Gorillas im Odzala-Nationalpark in Kongo. Laut einer im Jahr 2006 im Fachmagazin Science veröffentlichten Studie tötete Ebola etwa 5000 Gorillas in Zentralafrika. Die Studie deutet darauf hin, dass Ebola zusammen mit der kommerziellen Jagd die Gorillas als Art direkt bedroht.
Um die Art zu erhalten, engagieren sich unter anderem folgende Projekte und Organisationen: das Great Apes Survival Project (GRASP), ein Partnerschaftsprojekt des UN-Umweltprogramms und der UNESCO, sowie das Übereinkommen zum Schutz von Gorillas und ihrem Lebensraum, das im Rahmen des Übereinkommens über wandernde Tierarten in Kraft trat. Dieses Abkommen, das am 1. Juni 2008 in Kraft trat, ist das erste rechtliche Instrument, das speziell dem Schutz von Gorillas verpflichtet ist.

Vegetarismus und in geringerem Maße auch Veganismus haben sich in den letzten Jahren auch in unseren Breitengraden stark verbreitet. Tatsächlich ist es mittlerweile so weit gekommen, dass man älteren Menschen kaum noch erklären muss, was ein Vegetarier eigentlich ist und so weiter. Gleichzeitig nimmt der Prozentsatz der Menschen ab, die auf diese Richtung herabblicken. Und das ist gut. Das können wir sicherlich auch aus Sicht der Menschen sagen, die gerne ab und zu Fleisch genießen. Die Wahrheit ist, dass heute in unserer Gesellschaft oft übermäßig viel Fleisch gegessen wird, und das ist weder gut für unseren Körper noch für die Umwelt.

Es ist heutzutage schwer, jemanden zu finden, dem man erklären muss, was Vegetarismus eigentlich ist. Die Zeit, in der das Angebot für Vegetarier in Restaurants nur frittierten Käse oder im besten Fall frittierten Blumenkohl umfasste, ist zum Glück vorbei. Es ist großartig, dass Vegetarismus heutzutage weitgehend ohne Hindernisse praktiziert werden kann, denn die gesundheitlichen Vorteile sind unbestreitbar. Gewichtsabnahme, bessere Verdauung, Blutdrucksenkung, Verringerung des Risikos von Herzkrankheiten usw. Egal, ob Sie sich entscheiden, auf den Verzehr von Fleisch ganz zu verzichten oder ihn nur einzuschränken, Sie werden es auf jeden Fall positiv spüren. Wenn Sie einen gesunden Lebensstil anstreben und im Zusammenhang damit Fragen zu Ballaststoffen, Antioxidantien, Vitaminen in natürlicher Form usw. klären, bietet die vegetarische Ernährung eine positive Antwort auf all diese Fragen. Even if you are a meat lover, it is worth trying a meat-free day as an experiment. This topic remains controversial, so what is your opinion? Will you try a day without meat?

Vegetariánstvo a v menšej miere aj vegánstvo sa v posledných rokoch veľmi rozšírilo aj k nám. Už asi nikomu staršiemu nemusíte vysvetľovať, čo to vegetarián vlastne je. Súčasne sa znižuje aj percento ľudí, ktorí sa na tento smer pozerajú skrz prsty. A to je dobre. Aj tí, ktorí si občas radi pochutnajú na mäse, to môžu povedať. Pravdou je, že dnes jeme mäso často až príliš a to nie je dobré ani pre náš organizmus, ani pre životné prostredie.
Je ťažké nájsť niekoho, kto by potreboval vysvetľovať, čo to vlastne je vegetariánstvo. Doba, keď ponuka pre vegetariánov v reštauračných zariadeniach zahŕňala len vyprážaný syr, v lepšom prípade ešte vyprážaný karfiol, je našťastie preč. Je skvelé, že vegetariánstvo je v súčasnosti možné praktizovať bez prekážok, pretože zdravotné prínosy sú neodškriepiteľné. Strata hmotnosti, lepšie trávenie, zníženie tlaku, zníženie rizika srdcového ochorenia atď. Bez ohľadu na to, či sa rozhodnete úplne sa vzdať konzumácie mäsa alebo ju len obmedziť, budete to pozitívne cítiť. Ak sa snažíte o zdravý životný štýl a riešite otázky vlákniny, antioxidantov, vitamínov v prirodzenej forme atď., vegetariánska strava poskytuje na všetky tieto otázky pozitívnu odpoveď. Stojí to za zváženie. Ale čo ak ste mäsožravec a bez denneho príjmu mäsa sa nezaobídete? Skúste aspoň jednodňový experiment a vynechať mäso zo svojho jedálnička.
