Mezinárodní den ptactva je připomínkou podepsání mezinárodní konvence a tradice slavení Dne ptáků v Česku sahá až do dob Rakousko-Uherské monarchie. Hlavním cílem tohoto dne je upozornit na nebezpečí, která ohrožují ptáky a jejich stanoviště. Ochrana jednotlivých druhů nestačí, je důležité také chránit jejich prostředí. Ptáci jsou ohroženi zejména během svých dlouhých cest, především při přeletu Středozemního moře, kde jsou často loveni. Každoročně zde zahyne více než 1 milion ptáků. Ornitolové slaví svátek ptáků v terénu, kde mohou pozorovat různé druhy ptáků, včetně těch migrujících a hnízdících.

Während der Internationale Tag der Vögel als Erinnerung an die Unterzeichnung des internationalen Abkommens gefeiert wird, ist vielen nicht bewusst, dass die Tradition des Aprilscherzes über die Vögel in Österreich-Ungarn noch älter ist. Die Tradition wurde vom slowakischen Naturforscher Oto Herrmann (1835-1914) begründet. Eines der Hauptziele des Internationalen Tags der Vögel ist es, auf die Gefahren aufmerksam zu machen, denen Vögel weltweit ausgesetzt sind, und so zu ihrem Schutz und zum Schutz ihrer Lebensräume beizutragen. Die größten Bedrohungen für Vögel lauern jedoch während ihrer oft sehr langen Reisen. Einige fliegen bis zu 10.000 km, wobei der Rekordhalter die Küstenseeschwalbe ist, die bis zu 40.000 km zurücklegen kann. Die gefährdetsten Arten sind diejenigen, die das Mittelmeer überqueren, insbesondere die Wachtel, die Rohrdommel, die Rauchschwalbe, die Drosseln und andere kleine nachtziehende Vögel. Ornithologen feiern den Vogeltag im Freien, da im April der Vogelzug in vollem Gange ist. Es ist eine der ornithologisch interessantesten Zeiten in der Natur, in der wir sowohl viele Wintergäste beobachten können, die noch nicht abgereist sind, als auch viele Zugvögel, die auf dem Weg zu ihren nordischen Brutgebieten sind, sowie viele unserer Arten, die gerade zu ihren Brutgebieten zurückkehren und einige Vögel bereits vollständig brüten.

While many people know that International Bird Day is celebrated as a reminder of the signing of the international convention, few know that the tradition of celebrating Bird Day in Slovakia dates back to the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The main goal of International Bird Day is to draw attention to the dangers threatening birds worldwide and to help protect them and their habitats. Protecting individual species is not enough, as the protection of their habitats is also necessary. Many neglected and overgrown areas of nature are disappearing from the Czech landscape, and few realize that this is causing the loss of habitats for many bird species. The biggest threats to birds, however, occur during their often very long migrations. According to BirdLife International, more than 1 million birds die each year in the Mediterranean, mainly in Cyprus, due to hunting practices. Ornithologists celebrate Bird Day in the field, as April is a time when bird migration is in full swing and many interesting bird species can be observed.

Medzinárodný deň vtáctva je oslavou podpísania medzinárodnej konvencie o vtáctve. Tradícia slávenia Dňa vtáctva v Slovenskom jazyku sa datuje až do doby Rakúsko-Uhorskej monarchie. Jedným z hlavných cieľov tohto dňa je upozorniť na nebezpečenstvá, ktoré ohrozujú vtáky po celom svete a pomôcť ich ochrane a ochrane ich prostredia. Hlavnými hrozbami pre vtáky sú ich dlhé migrácie, počas ktorých sú často lovené a zabití. Oslavy Dňa vtáctva sa konajú v teréne, kde je možné pozorovať rôzne druhy vtákov, ktoré sa vrátia na svoje hniezdištia alebo prechádzajú cez územie.
