European Bird Festival
The Bird Festival is a BirdLife International campaign that aims to draw attention to the phenomenon of bird migration and the dangers that birds may encounter on their journeys. The festival falls on the first weekend of October, when BirdLife International's partners organize nature walks in individual European countries associated with bird watching and other accompanying programs.
The Czech Society for Ornithology is organizing the WorldBirdwatch festival, which takes place every few years and involves non-European countries as well. During the festival, ornithologists record the number of observed bird species and individuals, with a focus on rare species. The data is processed and sent to the European coordinator, who then shares the results with the media. The invitation to the 2023 Bird Festival encourages people in the Czech Republic and other countries in Europe to participate in bird watching and contribute to the data collection. The results of this year's festival will be available on the Czech Society for Ornithology's website.
