February 17th
Global Tourism Resilience Day
Tourism contributes to three dimensions of sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): economic growth, poverty reduction and environmental protection.
World Tourism Resilience Day, celebrated on February 17, emphasizes the importance of sustainable and resilient tourism development. Tourism contributes to economic growth, poverty reduction, and environmental protection. It is a major source of income for many developing countries. It promotes environmental responsibility, nature conservation, local culture, and economic empowerment of communities. The UN General Assembly has declared 2027 as the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism.
